To address the vulnerabilities surrounding NFC technology, I developed an app named OmniNFC, to detect NFC devices trying to interact with your phone. The app was tested in numerous trials with NFC tags are programmed to have various functions like opening a website. The app desired functionality at the end of the project will be to warn users on Android devices that is an NFC tag on the device near them, a warning stating information that an NFC technology was near them and trying to communicate with the person's phone helps warn, detect, and understand the threat. By executing NFC functions it is unknown what the phone did or what caused the phone to do it, by creating a warning system specifically for NFC identifying the causes and warning the user allows for immediate action for a user to be aware of their physical surroundings.

NFC usages increasing, with my parents owning a store and with background knowledge about cybersecurity, skimming is a big concern in the field of cybersecurity attacks. The attacks ruin both sides of a consumer based economy and expose sensitive information. In a modeled scenario a business will lose money and unfortunately take blame for the skimming attack. The consumer side loss of money and information occurs. Why is NFC becoming popular? NFC is being integrated in modern technologies to increase convenience, time is money. What is skimming and why is it a popular attack? Skimming is a physical and virtual form of attacking though I will be looking at the physical aspect of the attack. Skimming leaves little traces, and can be very profitable for the ease of the attack which makes it one of the top choices for attacks and scammers. For the testing of NFC I looked at the different OS responses, Apple is great in the security aspect of NFC, they provide the notification warning with info and don’t execute the NFC. Android on the other hand displays no notification though asks permission of executing the function if the execution has not been given permission before, a warning system is needed for Android.
